My Review:
Cobble Cavern is another great book that middle grade readers will love. With main character, Flin, having just turned thirteen, he is ready to go off on an adventure. The adventure is a trip to Ireland for a debate tournament. This average school trip turns into a journey of excitement, and sometimes great peril. As their tour bus is devoured by the Earth, and they are plunged deep underground, Flin finds out how brave he really is. I liked this character, as he showed common sense and courage trying to help his fellow classmates, along with his sidekick, Pilt. They battle strange creatures, mean and nasty classmates, unusually elements, and the big bad guy, Blade. The message is always there to not give up, and that you can accomplish things you never thought were within your reach.

Other fun characters in the book were Fezzy, Inger, and Heppel. They are the dwarfs they find in an ancient castle. With their help, this lost group are able to turn their bad luck around.

Young boys between the ages of 8-14 will really like this book. The front cover will be the first thing to pull them into reading the book. The average boy will be able to relate with many of the male characters. They are boys with normal insecurities, some bullying, that accompany these ages. It is always good for them to read about other boys that rise above the ordinary to become who they really want and can be. There is some mild violence in the book that some younger kids may not like, when a creature is on a rampage. Most of the story will keep any reader excited and glued to their book.
